One Last Fling ... Believing - there are always little stories that reconfirm that Spirit is around. Enjoy!
The Nurse
While I was at work, I was beginning to write some information on the chalk board. My mind had wandered for a moment, contemplating how exactly I was going to word the information the students would be writing down. In that briefest moment, when my guard was down and my mind was free, I was told some information – “Tell her she shouldn’t eat kale. Well she shouldn’t eat more than one leaf a day.” I was ‘whhhaaaat?’ I was wondering what that was about on a couple different points: who was the message for and I thought kale was a super food and that eating lots of it every day was a good idea.
I surmised that the information was for my client who was a nurse. I had an appointment with her on the weekend as she was going to ask me about food allergies and other diet considerations. So when we spoke and went through her list of foods that she should avoid, or use sparingly, I mentioned the message I had received about kale. She said that it sounded correct because she believed she a thyroid issue and knew that certain foods can interfere with the thyroid function. I was surprised to hear this and I’m assuming that this may also have confirmed that she indeed had a thyroid function issue and needed to get it checked out.
When I finished the session with the client, I gave Kari-Gail a call to ask her about it. Kari-Gail, who is my nurse and wellness friend extraordinaire, explained to me how cruciferous vegetables – kale, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. – interfere with the thyroid. I had NO CLUE!
The Vacuum
People often assume that people in Spirit only talk to me when they have some big philosophical conversation they wish to speak about it. I try to share with my clients that people who have passed are really pretty much the same person as when they left. The deceased may be a little wiser and calmer but they are still just them being themselves.
There're two examples I wish to share with you about such a case:
One time while I was vacuuming the stairs, my Great-grandfather in Spirit – one of my regulars – told me to be careful because the upright vacuum was going to fall and hit me. I grabbed the body and gave it a shake. It seemed to be fine to me so, I continued. Two or three steps down on the stairs I pulled the hose a little too far and sure enough, the handle hit me on the forehead. It gave me a goose egg.
Another time, I was vacuuming my truck at the car wash. I put my carton of chocolate milk in the middle, on the hump on the floor so I could reach it. Great-grandfather told me to move my milk because it was going to spill. I looked at what I was doing and couldn’t figure out how that would happen, so I left it. Of course I forgot about it and while moving the hose around I tipped it over. I had that chocolate milk stain there forever!
Ollie
Ollie, my little dog had met a sad and untimely passing at the beginning of July. I had Ella, my Jack-Russell mix still to look after and keep me company. When Ella and Ollie wanted to come inside after being let out, I knew who wanted in because they both had their own signature greetings. Ella would give a single, sharp bark, pause and wait, while Ollie would scratch at the door three consecutive times and then pause. Each would give me about a minute before retrying their greeting.
One day that summer while Ella was outside, I heard Ollie’s signature, “scratch, scratch, scratch”. My eyes grew huge as I turned to my roommate and she said, “I heard it too!” I went to the door and there was Ella standing on the deck by the top of the stairs about 10 feet from the door. She had an excited, expectant look on her face. She ran to the door once I called to her. I always wondered if she saw Ollie that day too. However, after that my roommate confided to me that she would see Ollie on occasion running around the house out of the corner of her eye!
Me at about 3 years old and I have been talking to Great-grandfather for a while now.
